Gate Keeping
Whether dancing in place or in person, please contact a Gatekeeper as soon as possible. Your Gatekeeper is your entry point—answering questions, taking your suggestions, helping to acclimate you to this event, and providing the registration information. Your conversation begins your dance, and the weaving of our community container.

Financial Considerations

In the traditional way, we do not charge for Ceremony. However, your donations are necessary to meet the expenses of lodging, food, elder travel and accommodations, ceremonial supplies, and more.

Please consider giving more if you have abundant finances to share, and give at the lower end of the scale if you must.

Thursday-Sunday: $450-$650

Dancers for whom that is a hardship should discuss their contribution with their gatekeeper.

Participating BiPoC & Trans dancers  receive extra support from NCPC towards their contribution: please  request when speaking with your gatekeeper. More info on this.

Dancers who are more financially resourced are invited to sponsor an Elder’s comfort, participation and travel expenses, and/or another Dancer’s costs.

Please send payment to the NY Dance’s treasurer, Nicole Ceballos. Please classify payments on PayPal as personal, between Family and Friends, not as a business transaction.

In respect for our Ceremony, these agreements are a collective effort to love and care for ourselves, our dance, and fellow dancers present and afar.

  • Participate fully to the best of your ability by being present.
  • Contribute your emotional, mental, and physical energies to the Dance in support of our Sacred time together.
  • Abstain from all use of alcohol, marijuana, recreational drugs, and medicine plants, respecting our time together by safely clearing your body of all effects before arrival. (Elders recommend to begin to abstain at least three days prior to the start of the Dance).
  • Refrain from any activities, including sexual, that will dissipate your energies from arrival until departure.
  • Respect all people and items in the ceremony.
  • Complete your registration (and any donation payments) by Monday, November 23rd

We are excited to return to our long-time dance site at the Ashokan Center, in Olive Bridge, New york.  They have lots of information on their website: https://ashokancenter.org/

Lodging: there is ample dorm-style housing with bunk beds in shared rooms.

Food:  the staff feeds us well! Meals between Thursday Dinner and Sunday dinner are provided.

Snacks to Share are always welcome: but NO NUTS: we have community members with severe nut sensitivities.
