Northwest Dance For All People
February 16-18, 2018
The Dance for all People, is an unfolding tradition of healing and renewal for ourselves, our relations and for sacred Mother Earth. Dancers, new and seasoned, and from all races and walks of life, come together to create a community. We gather around the Tree of Life and learn the songs that have been sung for countless millennia. During the dance we hold hands, sing the songs and dance a simple side step dance around the Tree of Life. We pray for healing and renewal deep within our hearts and for a transformation of our inner being. After the cycle of dances has been completed, a feast is held consisting of five ritual foods — water, corn, buffalo, salmon and berries. These foods are offered up to feed the ancestors that come to help us do this work, and are taken into our bodies to eat for them. The Dance is a sacred, powerful ceremony and should be approached with respect and humility.
The Dance is not a workshop. It is not a re-enactment. It is a living tradition, not a relic of the past. It is not talked about lightly or bragged about, but must be done with the utmost humility and goodness for the healing of the Earth, all our relations and ourselves.
The Dance was born of an ancient vision, and the life of the dance is about the vision of each and every dancer who is called to it. We each have a piece of the puzzle, and we are all part of the legend. Every voice around the tree needs to be heard. The Bundle is calling for you to come and Dance your vision.
